Tim Lawrenz
born in 08/05/1974
living in Berlin, Germany
(seriously) working with computers since 1992, first contact somewhere around 1982
my rare spare time is consumed by snowboarding, free climbing, surfing and petanque
I currently …
- … work for great plazes.com – a web based product that let’s you tell your friends where you currently are… and a lot more cool location based things
- … am a member of the advisory board of a (not yet being in the IPO phase) company called CleverBridge that is providing e-commerce solutions and payment processing
I did (basically in chronological order) …
- … study computer science at the Technical University of Darmstadt
- … built my first homepage (these times, it was called that way): lawrenz.com that is (believe it or not) online with my design since 1997
- … wrote a few desktop applications around the topics image recognition and image analysis like ImagePuzzler and ImageDupe that I am still selling online
- … organize the web/internet department of a mid-sized software company
- … lead a team to develop concepts of intranets and online knowledge management and exchange tools for mid- to large sized clients (10.000 to 100.000 users) including surveys and usability tests at antwerpes & partner AG
- … found a highly creative and successful design oriented advertising agency called DMKZWO
- … dig into tag-based applications and as one result set up successfully an adult oriented product called porn.a.licious (NSFW!) and licensed this particular engine to multiple not to be named companies.
- … work fulltime as the CTO of eQuisto GmbH and eQuisto Ltd. being responsible for and supervising the development of new applications, maintenance of existing applications, management of everyday tasks like documentation and backup strategies, maintenance of the corporate network, planning and development of the corporate information exchange strategy, planning and development of integration of external partners and products, etc.
and else …
- … I wrote a Microsoft Windows based iTunes addon called iTcover that automatically downloads and shows the cover of the song or album you currently are listening to
- … I developed my own user monitoring software VisitorTracker that (beside standard topics like referrers, overall pageviews, pageviews per visit, duration of visits, individual click pathes, countries, browsers, operating systems, screen resolutions and browser sizes) is able to monitor and replicate mouse movements and clicks perfectly fitting usability test surroundings but works very well in real life setups, too
- … I am a plazes evangelist, an online application delivering location based metadata. I developed a trillian plugin (available here) and maintain the (semi-)official statistic page
- … I spent an amazingly long time in France to climb (and fall)
- … I spent a lot of time in the alps to snowboard
- … can’t wait to travel to australia again to see Max and catch some waves with him
- … urgently have to go out now. it’s friday!
- … like to run
